Lebanon is an Aramaic word meaning white, the characteristic of its snowy mountains. Its area which consists of 4,000 square miles is occupied by 1,320,000 inhabitants and is situated at the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea. Most of its topographical structure is mountainous, which ranges from small hills to a height of about 9,000 feet with a few scattered plains and about thirteen rivers upon which the Lebanese agriculture and power plants depend. Its climate in its variations resembles that of California, giving a variety of agricultural products.
