In the twentieth century battle of giant forces to reach and influence the minds of men, every medium of communication is the potential weapon. The Negro press which comprises more than 225 newspapers and periodicals is capable of making valuable contributions in that conflict once its latent power is realized. The effectiveness of any medium, however, depends upon its capacity to reach its public and establish confidence in itself. Confidence is established in proportion to the facility with which the people understand what the medium is trying to do. The reactions of that medium to various issues provide the best index to its objectives.
