Nationalism in West Africa

The objective of this thesis. In this exposition of the rise and development of nationalism among the Sudanese Negroes who live on the West Coast of Africa, care has to be taken to sense and keep in mind the major objective of this thesis. It is not a dissertation on the evils of colonialism or political imperialism, however necessary this may be for the better understanding of the Blacks and Whites in West Africa, nor a glorification of the state-craftsmanship of Western European administrators, who at times compare themselves to the ancient imperial Romans in their skill to govern others, especially non-Europeans.
