MISSA is a dramatic work written for the stage. This play examines some of the racial issues being faced in the early nineteen sixties by juxtaposing events taking place in South Africa with those taking place in Birmingham, Alabama. The action revolves around a journalist (Clay) who comes to the present-day south to interview a woman (Lorraine) about her role in a notorious bombing of a church that took the lives of four young black girls. As Clay forces Lorraine to confront her memories of the early nineteen sixties, he finds himself facing his own memories of his childhood in South Africa. Missa is about the struggle between these two characters, and the efforts people make to reach beyond the restraints of the past.
