Preventive medicine has undoubtedly taken a great lead, many of the most important contributions of science in recent years having been contributed to preventive medicine. However, in recent years the increase in the large number of mental diseases has brought to the attention of our leaders a realization of the fact that something is wrong and they are leaving it us in the field of preventive medicine and the field of psychiatry to come together and to see if something practical cannot be done in the field of preventive medicine in psychiatry. The public health departments of the various states have, as far as our records show us, done very little, if anything, in preventive medicine in mental disease.Having played the role of public health officer, and having been interested in mental hygiene, in this paper we wish to make a record of special study that we have given along the line of preventive medicine in psychiatry.
