Rats were trained to perform a series of novel 2-odor discrimination tasks using a 10 s intertrial interval (ITI). By the end of training rats showed rapid and near errorless acquisition of most discrimination tasks. To examine long-duration odor memory, they were then tested using 10 and 30 min ITIs, using a novel odor pair for each task. Performance accuracy in each of the long ITI tests was equivalent to that obtained using the 10 s ITI.
