Marketing of Tobacco
The trend in tobacco production varies considerably in the various types. Certain cigar types will stand small acreage increase without much price variation. In regard to the present outlook, acreage increases in Virginia fire-cured and Maryland tobacco are justified, to a small extent. Flue-cured, Durley, One-sucker and Kentucky and Tennessee fire-cured tobacco would probably improve the selling price by decreasing acreage slightly. The remaining types seem to be about in the same and position as last year and would do well to retain practically the sane acreage. Because of the differences between types of tobacco the differences in their uses, and the differences in the demand for them, it is evident that no sweeping generalizations can be made for the tobacco-growing and tobacco-manufacturing industry as a whole.
