Machine learning: A reality?
Machine learning has become a particular field of interest in the area of Artificial Intelligence. Learning is a type of learning that results from the acquisition of knowledge and if machine learning proves to be successful, it can serve as an advantage for us. We would like to see machine learning offer society redeemable qualities that we may benefit from. However, if it is not fool-proof, it could guide in the wrong decision. We cannot rely on any system until the system proves to be completely accurate and reliable. We cannot and should not totally rely on the decisions made by a computer system when the decisions affect a critical area; for example, the diagnosis of a patient which would affect the patient's life. There are still many questions and concerns which remain unanswered and further research is needed. Until such problems are solved machine learning cannot be considered a reality.
