Live from the Apocalypse

"Live from the Apocalypse" explores the problem of histrionics in modern news media, especially radio, through fictional protagonist Jefferson Jones. Jones, who is modeled after media personalities such as Alex Jones and Glenn Beck, broadcasts his final show while the sun is mysteriously eclipsed and demons emerge from the earth, killing everyone in sight. He's quick with extravagant theories, but as the world outside begins conforming to the hysterical ravings coming from inside his St. Cloud, MN studio, the country starts tuning in and paying attention. His ego skyrockets, but his newfound relevance can't keep his young intern and good friend, Scott Blithe, in the studio. Eventually, Blithe leaves to be with his family, the audience that once satiated Jeff dwindles as the demons work their way across the country, and Jeff accidentally kills friend and frequent guest Gabriel Celona. After the incredible highs of perhaps his most important broadcast, he's left with nothing, spending his last few minutes on air speaking to the only person he knows is still listening, himself.
