The purpose of this document is to bring the philosophical works of Emmanuel Levinas and Friedrich Nietzsche together in order to find a way of reinterpreting both philosopher's works and generating a common ground from which both philosophers works may feed the development of new philosophy. The common ground sought is a form of humanist ethics that can be justified from the points of view of both philosophers. This humanism finds its roots in the ethical regard for the other in Levinas and the love of man in Nietzsche, and the comparison between the two philosophers allows for a reading of each philosopher's works in the context of how the other might reconfigure or develop the position taken by his counterpart.
