This work is a creative thesis consisting of primarily free-verse poems grouped in these categories: "Pop Songs," "Travel," and "Sleep." As it progresses, the manuscript increases in depth and the poems become less narrative and more abstract. This journey creates a unified whole from restless stasis to movement, and progresses finally to a restful stasis. The first section, "Pop Songs," is a composite of the entire work's themes of movement and rest. In this section, the speaker or characters are often in stagnant, early stages of development. This problematic state finds solution and release in the next two sections "Travel" and "Sleep." "Travel" explores the way some perspectives emerge only with the aid of experiencing new cultures or new places. "Sleep," as the section title indicates, is about myths, dreams and death.
