This thesis consists of a poem, three short stories and a one-act play. The characters featured in these writings are all engaged in various stages of a journey; a budding sculptor bound for New York explores her feelings for her roommate with the help of Andy Warhol; an heiress abandons her family and follows her tyrannical lover to a tropical island; a young woman sets out to find her first love, her stepbrother; a college student flees from the noise of the city in an attempt to "hear the ticking of his soul." Whether their goal is a midwestern town or the island of Bali, whether impelled by love or art (or both), these characters discover that their quests lead them to a spiritual destination--a truer understanding of who they were when they began.
