Jigaboo Princess is about reclaiming body and voice in the tradition of women writers all over the world including writers such as Nikki Giovanni, Ntozake Shange, Lucille Clifton and Audrey Lorde. Jigaboo Princess is a collection of original poetry that explores the body, mind, and spirit of women and how we negotiate the space around us; how we push our way through this world that attempts to define us, positively and negatively. Each poem is an example of how women love, grieve, and overcome adversity. These poems debunk and redefine, celebrate and rejoice womanhood and humanity. This collection demands to tear down the one-dimensional and inaccurate notions about women and about humanity.
