It's the Heart That Matters Most is a work of original short fiction tracing the life of one woman, Cybill Allen. Each story can stand alone, but together, they provide a vivid picture of Cybill and the life she is creating for herself. An intensely sensual woman, Cybill constantly tests reality against her own expectations as she struggles to deal with love and the illusion of love. The stories follow her life from her teens into her early thirties as she begins to stand on her own in the "real" world. These stories are more than just Cybill's "coming of age" however, they also attempt to make sense of human relationships, whether the relationships are between daughters and mothers, ex-lovers or friends. At the heart of this collection is a sense of longing and wonder at the world around the characters and the people that make up that world.
