Indonesian noun phrase

Indonesian Noun Phrases have fixed base-positions for its constituents. A complement is generated to the right of the head, and an adjunct is generated to the right of a complement. The three kinds of specifier which an Indonesian NP can have also have fixed base-positions. The Genitive Phrase and Determiner Phrase are generated on the right side of the head, and the Quantifier Phrase is generated on the left side of the head. A non-head NP constituent may move obligatorily for the sake of government, or optionally for the sake of emphasis and style. The movement observes the principle that the trace of a moved element must be properly governed. Indonesian NP structure follows the X-bar theory with a modification that the specification rule must be recursive. Furthermore, a blocking category for the government of a constituent has to move to enable the head to govern the constituent.
