India's Policy of Non-Alignment, 1947-1954: History and Analysis

The policy of non-alignment which the government of India has followed since the achievement of Indian independence in 1947 has received considerable attention in world affairs. An appreciable amount of literature has also grown up on this subject; most of the contributions however, have been written in a polemical vein, as the purposes of the writers have generally ben either to defend or more often oppose the policy.
