In the Name of the Mother

In the Name of the Mother is an original novella about a daughter, Ana Hyman, bound to her mother through ties much stronger than blood---through guilt, for instance, and through worship, and fear. The daughter of a reckless, absent father and a deeply religious but emotionally remote mother, Ana struggles to fill the void left by both her parents. As she ages and matures, we witness a desperate search for realization of self, security in relationships, and certainty of God that continually leads her back to her mother's closed door.
