A woman unable to understand her mother's mental decline realizes, during a trip from nursing home to childhood home, how far the past has slipped away from them; a fifteen year-old cynic believes, wrongly, that she has found salvation and escape in the unlikely form of an older man; following their mother's death, a brother and sister find themselves drawing irrevocably closer, fearful of losing one another and, thus, everything; after moving back home to her father, a young woman's encounter with and attraction to the feats of an amateur magician forces her to see the truth amid the illusion of things that disappear. Home At The End Of The World is a collection of four short stories whose very different protagonists are compelled into action through a shared and fervent longing for connection in their immediate worlds.
