Further Writings on Food and Guilt

These writings explore the stages in a young woman's life, from adolescence to dating to marriage to pregnancy. Although there are no characters common to every work, the themes and relationships are universal. "Something Bitter, Something Blue" concerns a 35-year-old who is dealing with her anxiety about being single while watching her younger sister walk down the aisle. "The Cosmo Girl's Guide to Bulimic Dating" is a portrait of a woman who makes a connection between love and food while depriving herself of both. "Actually" depicts a neurotic woman attempting to justify her choice of a fiance. "Light Cuts" shows a young girl's reaction to her mother's mastectomy and her own changing body. Lastly, "The Trouble With Dentists" is a one-act play about three generations of women who share their feelings and concerns after a secret is revealed at a birthday party.
