Expressions of Public Opinion in Denmark Relative to the Transfer of the Danish West India Islands to the United States

This study was made as a result of a course pursued at The American University under Dr. Tansill in International Relations and World Politics in which extended consideration was given to the Caribbean Policy of the united States. For over fifty years negotiations were conducted before the Danish West Indies became American territory. Public opinion in Denmark played an important part, especially in 1902, in delaying the Plans of the Danish and American governments to effect the transfer.
