There is a great need, in religions education, especially in the intermediate department of the church school, for programs and projects descriptive of expressional activity. Realizing the lack of this material in literature , I have taken it upon myself to present briefly the purpose and significance of expressional activity applied to the "intermediate" girl in the modern church school. I have also given some practical suggestive material in planning expressional work with the intermediate girl. The plans submitted have proved successful with a group of average intermediate girls in an average church school. It is my purpose in the later chapters of this thesis to contribute or suggest possible programs or plans of expressional activity for any like group of intermediate girls. It would take a volume to discuss the various suggestions in detail and for that reason I have confined this thesis to suggested activity only. I have also realized the impossibility of mapping out complete and rigidly fixed plans for such a program, for no group should be made to fit an arbitrary expressional curriculum---- rather the curriculum should be made to fit the group. Moreover, the group should help in the making and molding of the curriculum or course of study used. The specific purpose of this thesis, then, is an attempt to present suitable programs which may serve as a basis for guiding expressional activity in the intermediate department of the church school. And to point out that such expressional activity is the most essential phase of the project principle applied to the religious and social activity of early adolescent girls.
