Estimation of the Prevalence of Chronic Disease with Particular Reference to Syphilis

PrefaceAlthough many millions of dollars of public money are spent annually for disease control programs, the measurement of success achieved by these programs in terms of reduced disease prevalence is at present unsatisfactory. This study was undertaken to field test a method suggested by the author as a possible improvement over existing techniques for measuring disease prevalence.
