Establishing a Chinese hand puppet children's museum in Taipei, Taiwan
This thesis develops the idea of creating a new museum in Taipei, Taiwan, a children's museum, which will utilize a "Hands-On" philosophy. This museum will also focus on preserving a major aspect of the traditional Taiwanese folk arts--Chinese hand puppets. In order to have a basis for the development of this new museum, two American children's museums have been analyzed, as well as two existing museums in Taiwan. The two American museums are the Capital Children's Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Cloisters Children's Museum in Brooklandville, Maryland. The two museums in Taiwan are the National Nature Science Museum in Taichung and the Lukang Folk Arts Museum in Changhua. Emphasis is placed on studying the various aspects of public relations that will help the new children's museum become a success, as this field of endeavor has not been highly developed in Taiwan.
