Effects of Foreign Aid on Thailand's Economy
The primary purposes of this study are, first, to describe the economy of Thailand, second, the foreign aid of the United States to that country, and third, the effects of foreign aid on Thailand's economy. As the writer is a member of the Royal Thai Army, an effort was also made to study the military aid to Thailand. It is hoped that this thesis will be a contribution to anyone who is interested in the problem of foreign aid. For much kind and helpful assistance in the preparation of this thesis, as well as for guidance and inspiration while pursuing graduate work at the American University, the author is deeply grateful to Doctor Melville J. Ulmer, Chairman of the Department of Economics. Also, the valuable services of Dr. Daniel L. Spencer, Dr. Raymond V. Goldsmith, Mr. Julius Shiskin, and Professor Alfred Sherrard, as members of the Thesis Advisory Committee, are sincerely appreciated.
