To exist here, one must get comfortable with falling, breaking, and pulling the pieces back together into something completely different. It is not always a choice. Sometimes life pushes us down and devastates all we know. Sometimes we do it ourselves; maybe it's a tiny crack that we've created and watched moving slowly through us. After all, how do we know all the things we could be, all the places where we fit, unless we allow ourselves to shatter and take new shape? This book is about placing myself in the hands of poetry to fall, to break, to shatter, to unravel---and to let the new voice rise from the old wreckage, saying whatever new song she has to sing.
