Contemporary Arab Diplomacy and Its Place in the International Field

This study on Arab diplomacy has a twofold aim. The first aim of this essay is to analyze the achievements and failures of Arab diplomacy in the international field and try to see the causes that led to such results. It is hoped that in this way certain lessons may be discerned. The second purpose of this essay is to explain to the western reader the reasons for Arab suspicion of the West which is occasionally reflected in negative policies, and to show to Arab readers the futility of a "neutralist" policy in a world in which international cooperation is essential for survival.
