Connections. (Original writing)

This collection of prose and poetry represents the work I have drafted and revised during my two years of graduate study at The American University. One story, "Pretty Maidens All In A Row," has been in progress for five years and has undergone numerous revisions. The other prose and poems were all drafted during my period of graduate study. When I first enrolled at The American University, I planned to write only stories; however, I suffered a burnout period last year and, consequently, enrolled in Arnost Lustig's screenwriting workshop. That course gave me the freedom to experiment with new forms--shorter prose pieces and poetry--and sparked my creative energy once again. Thus, this collection includes works that represent where I have come from and where I am going--the connections I have made and continue to make through and within my writing.
