Collective Security Under the General Assembly of the United Nations

The founders of the United Nations Charter set up an organization with the primary purpose of maintaining international peace and security and preventing illegal aggression and force. Under the Charter, the Security Council was given the "primary" responsibility for the maintenance of peace and security.
