Chronology, conditions, and resolutions in the conflict between Bahrain and Iran: A human needs perspective
The problem addressed in this thesis is how to bring an end to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Bahrain through the concepts of Human Needs Theory. The procedures used are the following: first, the essential elements of the conflict resolution techniques of Human Needs Theory are discussed. Second, the chronology of the conflict is discussed and analyzed. Third, the conditions of the conflict within each country are reviewed. Fourth, the thesis looks at the political dynamics of the region. Fifth, resolution concepts and procedures as they are implemented through Human Needs Theory are applied to the conflict. Finally, the conclusion of this analysis shows that Bahrain and Iran, though having been in conflict for hundreds of years, are likely to find resolution through meditation that helps them distinguish between (1) needs and values that bring them into opposition and (2) interests that bring them together.
