Case integration of a database architecture: A case study
The objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness and ease of integrating several CASE tools and hardware in the development of a database system. A set of CASE tools was used in conjunction with the Box Structure Methodology to analyze, design, and implement a prototype database system. During the CASE integration process, problems were found including multiple entries of the same element in the data dictionary, manual cross-verification and consistency checks between various designs, and lack of free exchange of data among CASE tools. The research proposes a common repository as a requisite for integrating CASE tools. The centralized repository will store and control access to all of the data gathered during the system life cycle including box structure designs, and data structures.
