Big People is a collection of seven original stories which touch on themes of loss, change and the passion inherent in day-to-day living. Each story's protagonist faces a crucial moment in his or her life and must find a way to move forward from that point. A young widow finds solace in visiting colossal statues throughout the world; a young boy growing up on Alcatraz starts to identify with the prisoners as he begins to explore his emerging sexuality; a woman becomes involved with a rock star she idolized as a teenager and must find a way to stop being a fan so that she can get to know the man and not the image. The intensity and weight of each of these moments force each character to engage in an act of the imagination in order to proceed into the next phase of his or her life.
