Change exists only for the timeless, and must be the product of the timeless. Everything is in pro-process of change, and reality takes on one form after another; but in order to recognize change, something permanent must stand apart from the process, and endure through it. It is the mind that links the successive stages of a thing together, and it can do so only because it is an abiding entity. Change as a succession of stages in a particular thing is possible only because the mind can retain the memory of a former stage, and relate that to the present stage, But these stages come under the idea of the object, and the idea Is timeless.
