Buzzard is about the uncanny connective tissue between absence and erasure. Memory, in spite of proof, is what these poems attempt to challenge. Here, reaching backwards is an attempt to both answer and honor the unknowable. One of the questions being asked: how to write trauma responsibly. Writing these sensations is expected of a poet but I tried my best to engineer a speaker who could show as little as possible about the source of where a feeling was coming from, while still ensuring through tone that somehow, the voice is indebted.
