TO THE PROBLEMAn attitude is usually conceived of as a reaction tendency toward a delimited class of objects or situations on the part of the individual. Thus measurement of attitude is intended to furnish important descriptive and predictive information about "social" behavior. The huge and ever-growing volume of both pure and applied attitude research attests to the importance of the concept in the thinking of the social scientist.
