Anamnesis
Anamnesis is a medical term with a dual meaning. The first meaning is psychological, and deals with memory recollection. The speakers in all of the poems presented here are trying to bring something to light, some uncharted part of their pasts, connected and unconnected, that previously remained concealed. With the first section "False Memory," I wanted to explore the relation between actual event and memory, and the various patterns by which we recollect, through sound, visual measurements, and grief. The second section "Flash Fill," is a partial tribute to the film noir style, but still maintains this theory as the primary character, Alexander Radcliff, takes a trip back through his past as he's confronted with a pattern of killings. In the process, we are given insight from the victims, the criminals and even his equipment. All of these elements compose a sort of history, though not necessarily medical, which binds all the elements to each other, as well as to the author.
