The task of the creative artist is becoming less and less to portray the physical universe in terms of purely descriptive symbols, but rather to discover and exploit the basic principles underlying the functions of art and nature, and to regroup them in such a way that meaningful ideas will be presented to help the artist and observer to become more acutely aware of the nature of reality. This shift in emphasis is placing upon the artist the role of explorer and researcher.
