An Experimental Study Relating to Computer Simulation
There exist at present over one hundred different computer types and there are over one thousand of these machines in actual use. Because of that fact, it is instructive to ask the following questions: 1. In what sense are these computers different from one another? 2. Does this imply that a problem can be run only on the computer type for which it was originally coded and thus preclude its being run on another computer without the necessity for recoding the entire problem? 3. What steps, if any, can be taken in order to arrive at a common denominator between them?
