An Evaluation in Terms of National Council of Teachers of English Policy of Syllabi in English Published by Twelve States (1945-1952) for Grades 10 and 12

Purpose of the study. It was the purpose of this study (1) to determine the scope of twelve state courses of study in English published from 1945 to 1952 for grades 10-12; (2) to define major issues currently involving curricular content in English; and (3) to ascertain the extent to which goals of the twelve syllabi were compatible with the goals set forth by the National Council of Teachers of English in the publications An Outline of the Desirable Outcomes and Experiences in the Language Arts and The English Language Arts.
