The Liberal Arts College Movement instituted two years ago has brought the small college into strong relief against America's higher educational background. In view of this growing interest, it appears desirable to focus attention upon the small college by providing certain fundamental facts regarding its recent development. This study is based upon data concerning the enrollments, teaching staffs, degrees, libraries, endowments, and sources of income of a selected group of one hundred forty-seven small colleges. The study is limited to the period for which uniform statistics are available in the United States Office of Education that is, from 1920 to 1930.
