This thesis analyzes the results of a survey of 272 museums in the United States. The survey was designed to ascertain the most critical management concerns museums face as well as to identify the kinds of outside assistance that would aid them in evaluating their operations. Analysis of the survey results provides viable insight about the structure and operations of the responding museums. Further evaluation of the results yields a pragmatic foresight into the direction and development of future programs to address the needs of museum today.
