A Sacristy for Hunger

Science tells us that from our mothers we inherit only half of ourselves. Can that really be true? A Sacristy for Hunger is a collection of poems that explores the idea of lineage-how, as women, we hand down what we inherit as wives, as mothers, as daughters. It explores the hungers inherent in each of these roles, and the way in which these hungers ultimately shape our voices. The woman at center of the collection searches her heritage, her family relationships and, most particularly, her relationship with her own mother in order to craft a voice that will be able to most fully speak of absence, of longing, of grief and, finally, of what sparks from these ashes.
