As the United Nations nears the end of its first decade, there is increasing evidence that a conference will be held for the review of the Charter with a view to its possible amendment. Article 109 (3) of the Charter provides that such a proposal shall be placed on the agenda of the tenth session of the General Assembly, which meets in September 1955. The United States is one of many members who have already indicated that they expect to favor the holding of a review conference.
