A History of the Board of Indian Commissioners and Its Relationship to the Administration of Indian Affairs, 1869-1900

In this study of the Board of Indian Commissioners 1869-1900 the essential problem has been to present a history of the Board during its most important period. Closely allied to the main problem has been that of describing the relationship of the Board to the whole field of Federal Indian Affairs. The determination of the extent and character of this relationship was the result of careful study of its activities, influence, and recommendations.
