American University’s Department of Health Studies Healthy Schools, Healthy Communities Lab annual evaluation of the Healthy Corners (HC) program in Washington, DC. The evaluation is two pronged including Intercept surveys and Healthy Corner Store Scorecard analysis. The data collected captured shopper’s behavior, opinions, and knowledge of the HC program, as well as food access preferences, nutrition assistance benefit utilization, and basic demographic information. The Healthy Corners Scorecard was maintained without notable changes.

In addition, AU’s research team upheld the required evaluation metrics outlined by the Nutrition Incentive Hub for the USDA’s Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP) SNAP Incentive grantees for the third year.
