Beyond the Price Tag: How Tariff Reforms Can Slow Fast Fashion

<p dir="ltr">Reforming tariff and duty exemptions for low-value imports (known as de minimis exemptions) could significantly slow the fast fashion industry’s wasteful and carbon-intensive practices. These exemptions currently enable companies to ship massive volumes of low-quality goods duty-free, driving overproduction and environmental harm. Redefining or eliminating such policies, when framed as nonpartisan and eco-centric reforms, can reduce global emissions, promote sustainable production, and protect both consumers and domestic economies.</p>
